How does anonymity work on Igloo?

Igloo lets you post and interact anonymously within your university’s feed. Your identity is never shown to others unless you choose to reveal it through DMs. We verify everyone with a university email address, so only real students from your campus can join the conversation.

count

What can I post about?

Anything related to student life! Use hashtags like #ECON1020, #Freshers, or #HallsLife to help others find your post. Ask questions, share campus news, post memes, or rant about your 9am—just stick to the community guidelines and keep it respectful.

How do DMs and privacy work?

You can send DMs to anyone, even if they’ve posted anonymously. When you message someone, they’ll see your username. It’s up to them whether they reply or not. DMs are private and encrypted, and you control what you reveal.

count

Why do I need a university email address?

Your university email (e.g., @aston.ac.uk or @sheffield.ac.uk) links you to your specific uni feed. This keeps each Igloo community exclusive to students at that institution. We never share or display your email—it’s just used for access and verification

count

What are upvotes and downvotes for?

Upvote posts you find funny, useful, or relatable. Downvote anything that’s spammy, off-topic, or violates community standards. The more upvotes a post gets, the more visible it becomes. Too many downvotes might hide a post from the feed.

How can I report a post or user?

Tap the “...” icon on any post or message to report it. Our moderation team checks reports regularly to keep Igloo a safe, chilled space. Serious or repeated violations can lead to bans.
